Cartilage lesions due to degeneration or injuries cause pain, limiting a patient’s capability for physical activities. This joint disorder significantly impacts one’s quality of life and has become a major health concern in our society. Currently, there is no therapy available for effective repair of damaged cartilage. To address this urgent medical need, our mission is to develop and evaluate stem cell-based therapies as regenerative treatments for cartilage repair.

To achieve our mission, we perform laboratory research to gain a better understanding of stem cell aging and its reversal for preparation of quality therapeutic cells and more insight into differentiation induction of stem cells for cartilage regeneration.
